Can a spring be stretched to fit?Updated a month ago
If you are needing to stretch a spring to make it fit, it strongly suggests that you may be using the wrong spring for the door.
If you have a retractable up-and-over garage door (the entire door slides inside the garage when the door is open, and has horizontal runners which are parallel to the ceiling), the spring should connect at the top to an anchor pin about midway on the door, and at the bottom to a spring straining screw at the bottom. This spring straining screw can be raised and lowered, providing some wiggle-room with length, but this is only by a few cm, and it can impact the tension on the door.
If unsure about whether the spring you have is correct for the door, please contact our team who will be able to advise.
