Are there any extras I need for my electric motor?Updated 9 months ago
We have a range of accessories for garage door electric motors. Some are essential for operation, whilst others are optional extras which can provide enhanced functionality and convenience. Below we will highlight some of the main products, but a full range can be seen here. If unsure about any product, please contact the team at [email protected].
CANOPY BOW ARM CONVERTER
If you have a canopy garage door (when the door opens 1/3 of the door hangs outside forming a canopy) you will need to also purchase a Bow Arm Converter.
Without the addition of a bow arm converter it is impossible to electrically automate a canopy type garage door. This is because if you attempted to open/close the door by pulling from the top, you would cause the door to jam. By installing the bow arm converter, you alter the opening force on the door by applying force to both the top and bottom of the door.
Please note, that the bow arm will hang down by approx. 6" further when the door is open, so please ensure that if a vehicle is stored in the garage that you have sufficient height available as to not impact on this.
SOMMER 32.5V BULB
A replacement bulb suitable for the Sprint, Marathon and Aperto models of electric garage doors, which sometimes came under Cardale or Henderson branding.
SOMMER BELL PUSH WIRED WALL SWITCH
Whilst this is a Sommer product, it is compatible with electric motors from other brands. This button can be installed on a wall and wired to the electric motor, allowing anyone to open the door by pressing the switch.
EMERGENCY KEY RELEASE DEVICE
If the only entry point to the garage is the main garage door, then you may become locked out should the electric motor break or there is a prolonged power cut. The Emergency Key Release Device allows you to disconnect the electric motor from the door and gain access.
DELATCHING BRACKET
This kit includes two locking latches and a delatching bracket. This increases the security of the garage as the latches provide two additional locking points at the bottom of the garage door. By using the delatching bracket, these latches are opened as the electric motor opens the door, saving you having to get out from the car. Increased security and convenient.
